With over two decades of educational experience in Australia and the UK, I’ve journeyed through Secondary, Technical, and University sectors, achieving Master Teacher status in Queensland. As the past President of the Australian Media Educators Association and co-author of its curriculum, I’ve made significant contributions. In addition, I’ve ventured into business, earning accolades for innovative STEM solutions, and shared my love for photography through teaching. This is a testament to my passion for learning and dedication.
My Story
Imagine a journey, a remarkable voyage that spans over two decades, a journey through the diverse and ever-evolving landscape of education. I have been fortunate enough to embark on this quest across Secondary, Technical, and University sectors in Australia and the UK. In the heartland of education, Queensland, Australia, I have reached the pinnacle of a Master Teacher.
In my relentless pursuit of learning, I’ve had the honour of leading the Australian Media Educators Association as its past President. I have been instrumental in moulding the future of the field by co-authoring the Australian Media Education Curriculum. My teaching experience is not limited to just one continent; I’ve had the privilege of instructing at Sixth Form Colleges in Brighton and Hove, and Bexhill, UK.
My academic prowess extends to the realm of Computer Sciences. During the 1990s, I specialized in computer-mediated communication and production at the University of Southern Queensland and Griffith University Queensland. My credentials include a BA and MA in Literature and Computer Mediated Communications from Griffith University Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching from Mt Gravatt Teachers College, and a Graduate Diploma in Media from the esteemed Australian Film, Television and Radio School, Sydney, Australia.
But my passion isn’t confined within the walls of academia. I have ventured into the world of business, owning computer engineering companies that specialize in CRM and ERP software. I’ve had the privilege of serving prestigious clients like Mack Trucks, Volvo, and Scouts Australia, and currently, our platform manages the largest number of Scouts in Australia. My commitment to innovation led to the development of a unique software and hardware system that fostered children’s interests in STEM activities. It not only received a $100,000 grant from the Queensland Government but also won a coveted Goldtick at the Australian Design Awards in Melbourne in 2020.
Beyond the classroom, boardrooms, and software, there’s another dimension of creativity that I cherish – Photography.
My significant body of work encompasses Street, Architecture, Landscape, and Macro genres. This passion extends beyond just capturing moments; I have been sharing my knowledge of photographic composition with students at all levels throughout my career.
In the end, this journey is more than just a resume, it’s a testament to the power of dedication, diversity, and a passion for learning. That’s the essence of who I am.
